Reloop designs

This Kiwi-native (pictured below with her designed bag) is helping Cambodia rid of its excessive waste plastic bags in Kampot by turning them into beautiful handmade products. She's been teaching poor Cambodians the needed skills and struggling to find funds to provide decent salary to these villagers -- their jobs being to collect waste plastic bags, cleaning them, drying them, making them into plastic yarn and sewing the final products. Ruth Yoffe turned her back on a career in product design in New York to do something worthwhile with her skills -- of course not ending poverty but she wishes to "save the world from drowning in plastic".

She was featured on Sunday Star Times. You can check out an online article about her and her work and how she ended up in Kampot, Cambodia here or to see her products and designs check out her website/blog.
